I've gone the route of just selecting the vs bots option but there's maps that aren't included, and game modes that aren't available for selection. It's not a deal breaker for me cause I mean hell I can always just join a MP match and go, but it's beyond annoying because I literally have to quit/leave/and go back to the main, main menu to get the ability to add bots in, and even sometimes that doesn't even work. You have the menu selections to remove bots, move players but that is just about it everything else is either darkened out or not even available. Then the main load screen comes back up but and you can even start the match but you're alone in the lobby, there's no bots what so ever and if you try to go into add them you're met with a lovely blurb over the map selection about cod caster or whatever the message is. The issue then arises when changing the map after that match, or if you've added the the bots prior to doing anything, upping the time limit, score limit, or what have you.
I typically use custom to 'warm up' before joining multiplayer however I can get into custom game modes, select a map, add bots ONCE play the match per usual.
